I don't think there's any blood relation, no. We've met all four parents on the show.

Ben's mother Emily died after giving birth to him in the woods. Ben killed his father on the island.

Locke's mother is Swoosie Kurtz. His father is Anthony Cooper (the original Sawyer), who pushed him out the window.

Having now caught up the number of weeks' writings; and knowing you [Jeff] can keep track of zillions of details better than I, so I may be way off base here ...

Any chance Ben Linus and John Locke could be brothers - more feasibly, step-brothers? ("two sides of the same coin"; with possible biblical connection - who were the two brothers, one good one bad?) And, if so, they certainly don't know it .. yet.

I'm referring to the following in the 4x11 Cabin Fever writings: "Presumably, the “Emily” who gave birth to John is the same woman, played by Swoosie Kurtz, he later meets in the Wal-Mart Locke was working at (before his job at the box company). ... Ben’s mother’s name? Emily. Yet another similarity between the two men–they’re two sides of the same coin. Both ultimately want to protect the island, but by different means."

There's still plenty of time left for the castaways to construct coconut phones, escape a wild gorilla attack, and watch a game between the Harlem Globetrotters and robots.

"the larger point here is that “getting off the island” is no longer the end point for a series that at first seemed to be about doing just that."

this isn't and never was gilligan's island. ;)
